TRAVELS: VALENTINE'S WEEKEND | MADRID - DAY 1

Madrid nunca foi daquelas cidades que estivesse no meus "sonhos" para conhecer, achava que era, sim, uma cidade grande e bonita e que um dia haveria de ir lá, mas nunca foi aquela vontade, até há uns tempos atrás, quando comecei a ver mais fotos da cidade e aí surgiu um bichinho de querer conhecer a cidade. Quando decidimos ir passar o fim-de-semana antes do dia dos namorados fora, surgiu a ideia de várias cidades e acabamos por escolher Madrid. Foi, sinceramente, a melhor decisão (não desvalorizando a vontade de conhecer as outras em questão), e superou de todo as nossas expectativas. Ambos adoramos, até começamos a fazer planos para lá viver (imaginem xD), como é óbvio só imaginamos porque o que o futuro nos reserva já nós temos mais ou menos a ideia, mas nunca se sabe!!

No primeiro dia chegamos e tal como previsto, estava a chover e bastante, mas isso não nos impediu de passearmos e aproveitarmos, mas não fomos muito longe. O nosso hotel era na Gran Via, que desde já recomendo, o hotel Vincci Capitol - o edifício Carrión ou Capitol, o que tem o anúncio luminoso da marca Schweppes - e tem uma vista fantástica para a Gran Via. Assim, fomos dar um passeio pela rua e pelas lojas, como a gigantesca Primark, a maior da Península Ibérica e a segunda maior da Europa (quase parece um shopping só de uma marca), e beber um mocaccino para aquecer, já que para além da chuva estava muito frio também. À noite fomos jantar ao Mercado de San Miguel, que é paragem obrigatória nem que seja só para petiscar qualquer coisa, é como um La Boqueria, em Barcelona, mas muito mais pequeno. O engraçado foi que o mercado e a Plaza Mayor, que é ao lado, ficavam a 700 metros a pé do nosso hotel, e ao começarmos a andar o GPS do telemóvel atualizou para carro e andamos mais de 4km a pé e à chuva, mas o que vale é que passamos por muitos sítios conhecidos, mas que também queríamos ver durante o dia xD.

Madrid was never one of those cities that were in my "dreams" to know, I thought it was a big and beautiful city and one day I would go there, but it was never a big desire until some time ago, when I started to see more photos of the city and somehow came a desire to know the city. When we decided to spend the weekend of Valentine's Day outside Portugal, the idea of several cities came up and we ended up choosing Madrid. It was, honestly, the best decision (not devaluing the desire to know the others), and it exceeded our expectations. We both loved it, we even started making plans to live there (imagine xD), as we obviously just imagine because what the future holds for us we already have more or less the idea, but we never know!!

The first day we arrived and as planned, it was raining and a lot, but that didn't stop us from walking and enjoying, but we didn't go very far. Our hotel was on the Gran Via, which I would highly recommend, the Vincci Capitol hotel - the Carrión or Capitol building, which has the bright advertisement of the brand Schweppes on the top - and has a fantastic view of Gran Via. So we went for a stroll down the street and through the shops, like the gigantic Primark, the largest in the Iberian Peninsula and the second largest in Europe (almost looks like a one brand mall), and drink a mocaccino to warm up. In the evening we went to the San Miguel Market, which is a must stop even if it's just to snack on anything, it's like the La Boqueria in Barcelona, but much smaller. The funny thing was that the market and the Plaza Mayor, which is next to it, were 700 meters walk from our hotel, and when we started walking the GPS of the mobile phone upgraded to car and we walked more than 4km on foot and under the rain, but what is worth is that we went through many known places, but of course we wanted to see that also during the day xD.
