TRAVELS: CAPE VERDE - Day 1, 2 and 3

Então aqui vão algumas (das muitas) fotografias que tiramos para partilhar com vocês a nossa experiência na Ilha do Sal, que adoramos.

So, here are some (of the many) photos we took to share with you our experience at the Sal Island, that we love.

Day 1

O primeiro dia foi dedicado a apanhar sol e a conhecer a praia em frente ao hotel em que ficamos instalados, que é a Praia de Santa Maria, a melhor da ilha.

The first day was dedicated to sunbathing and to know the beach right in front of our hotel, the name is Santa Maria beach and is the best on the island.

Day 2

No segundo dia ficamos também pela praia e fomos ao famoso Pontão, que fica na praia de Santa Maria, um sítio lindo onde estão crianças a atirarem-se ao mar (eu incluída xD) e os trabalhadores locais a pescarem. Conhecemos alguns cabo-verdianos e eles são mesmo simpáticos, nada maldosos. O seu lema é o "no stress" junto com morabeza, que significa hospitalidade, amabilidade e a arte de bem receber, e isso sente-se em todo o lado onde fomos.

On the second day we stayed at the beach and we went to the famous "Pontão" that sits on the Santa Maria beach and is a beautiful place where the children are jumping into the sea (including me xD) and the local workers are fishing. We met some Cape Verdeans and they are really friendly. They have a motto, "no stress" together with the word morabeza that means kindness and the art of hospitality, and you can feel that everywhere.

Day 3

No terceiro dia fomos dar a volta a ilha durante a manhã. Fomos à cidade de Espargos, que é a maior cidade da Ilha do Sal, mas como é de esperar é muito pobre, no entanto as pessoas e as crianças são sempre super amáveis. Fomos também ver o olho azul na Buracona, mas infelizmente como o sol estava entre as nuvens, não deu para ver o efeito que faz quando o sol incide diretamente na água daquele buraco, que faz parecer mesmo um olho azul. Vimos as miragens em Terra Boa, que é um deserto onde se olharmos para o horizonte, parece que tem água, mas é tudo ilusão de ótica. E claro que não podia faltar, as salinas, fomos tomar um banho naquela água super salgada e que não conseguimos parar de boiar e absorver aquela paisagem linda.
No fim seguimos para o hotel para aproveitar o resto do dia na praia.

On the third day we went explore the island in the morning. We met the Espargos city, the biggest of Sal Island, but as I was expecting it is very poor, however the people and the children are always super kind. We also went to see the blue eye in Buracona, but unfortunately as the sun was in the clouds, we didn't get the chance to see the effect of the blue eye in the water. We saw the mirages in Terra Boa, which is a desert where if we look to the horizon, it seems to have water, but it's just an optical illusion. And of course, the Saline, where we went to take a bath in that really salty water and we couldn't stop float and see the beautiful landscape.
At the end we went to the hotel to enjoy the rest of the day at the beach.
